About Bunny Meadow

Bunny Meadow is my project which I run alongside my full-time job. Everything is handmade, made to order and packaged by me and it is me that responds to every inquiry and email! This is why my dispatch times are longer than usual but I hope to shorten these (she says every month!)

I started Bunny Meadow in February 2019 when I realised that I was making all of my own pet foods (at the time I had gerbils, rats, mice, guinea-pigs and rabbits,) and maybe other people would be interested in buying them. I had unfortunately lost my previous full-time job on the Christmas Eve before, and so decided to give it a go!

Before I started feeding my own pets my mixes, I spent years and years obsessively researching proper diets and reading scientific studies. I was honestly horrified to find that so much incorrect information is given out as ‘recognised’ and correct pet care, especially in the UK and the USA. There are a lot of misconceptions out there about what is and is not safe and I hope to break those.

I also spent quite a few years taking in unwanted pets, predominantly rabbits. This is where I truly saw the horrors of what an incorrect diet can do to a pet. By the time they came to me, the damage had already been done and it was a hard fight. A lot of those fights I unfortunately lost.

I sincerely appreciate every customer that has returned again and again and sent me nice emails or messages. They really keep me going as it is most definitely not easy running a business on your own!

Now, a little bit about the other members of the Bunny Meadow Team!

We currently have on the team:

  • Four beautiful rabbits named Rufus, Nancy, Little Foot & Myrtle. Myrtle came from a hoarding situation (via a rescue), Rufus and Nancy were unwanted pets and Little Foot was the last of a litter that no-one wanted, so he is the only one that came to me as a baby (3 months).

  • Four of the funniest female guinea-pigs - Honey was the last of an unwanted litter so she was a baby when I got her, Summer and Panda came from the amazing Burrowed Hearts Animal Rescue and Caramel was a surprise baby.

  • And Finally, two of possibly the softest cats in the world, Aurora and Freya. Aurora came to me when she was three months old and was being advertised on preloved with the statement ‘needs gone or going to Cats Protection’. Freya was the runt of a litter and no-one wanted her. She was so unbelievably tiny and still looks like a kitten at four today!
